PANAJI: TBJP State General Secretary Damodar Naik says that the confused Congress Party and arrogant Trinamool Congress (TMC) are taking everyone in Goa for a ride.
“Fearing an embarrassing defeat in the polls scheduled on February 14, these political parties are running helter-skelter looking for a pre-poll alliance,” he said.
Naik says that the Nationalist Congress Party (NCP), which hardly has any presence in the State, has decided to join the cluster where Goa Forward Party (GFP) is already in.
“But what’s interesting is that after TMC lawmaker Smt Mahua Moitra suggested that opposition parties in Goa could join hands to take on the ruling Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) and Congress leader Shri P Chidambaram backed the idea, the very senior leaders of the Congress party are on a spree dismissing the ‘rumour in circulation’ about joining hands with TMC,” he says.
Naik said that it’s a known fact that Congress and TMC are fighting for the same vote base and have bitterness for each other particularly after two Congress MLAs were lured away by the TMC.
“The West Bengal party has recently formalized an alliance with Maharashtrawadi Gomantak Party (MGP). There’s a famous English proverb, “Too many cooks spoil the broth”,” he said.
Naik says the idea of broad alliance is nothing but to defeat the BJP, instead of focusing towards working for the welfare of Goa and Goans.
“Hollow promises and forming an alliance will not get these parties votes. The electorates are bright enough to understand that these parties with vested interests pushed Goa on the reverse gear while BJP successfully led to progressive Goa during the 10 years. The double engine sarkar will continue to work for overall betterment of its people and the State. BJP was, is and will always be committed to serve its people,” he added.
