Margao – Congress Party today bounced back on the attempt of Chief Minister Dr. Pramod Sawant who tried to take credit of the commissioning of five wifi hotspots in five panchayat areas for online education of students.

Chief Minister Dr. Pramod Sawant had tweeted : Glad to announce that WiFi Hotspots are now functional with free access for students in 5 rural Gram Panchayats in Goa on a pilot basis. We are working to ensure that connectivity does not deprive our students from learning. #DigitalIndia #GoaFightsCOVID19

Congress Vice President Sankalp replying to the Chief Ministers tweet said : Dont take credit. It is our @INCGoa Leader @digambarkamat who woke @BJP4Goa @GovtofGoa from slumber to remind you that Intranet Facility gifted to Goa by then PM Dr. Manmohan Singhji has already reached every Panchayat when you were dreaming of making fortunes from Mobile Towers.

GPCC General Secretary Amarnath Panjikar took to tweeter and said : Der Aayi Durust Aayi! Mr. @goacm @DrPramodPSawant, The Intranet Project was gifted to Goa by then PM Dr. Manmohan Singhji when @digambarkamat was CM. Your @BJP4Goa CM’s @manoharparrikar & Laxmikant Parsekar did nothing to expand the network beyond every Panchayat.

Congress Women Leader & Benaulim ZP Candidate Royla Fernandes also reminded CM that the intranet facility was long installed by Congress. She said in her tweet : The @INCIndia always has a Vision for Betterment of India. Your @BJP4India is only of Fakery & Jumalas. This project of OFC Intranet Service is gift of then PM Dr. Manmohan Singhji to Goa. Successive @BJP4Goa Govts. did not expand it till our LoOP @digambarkamat raised it now.

Youth Congress Leader Varad Mardolkar also criticised Goa CM with his tweet : Dear @goacm, So finally you realised that the visionary Intranet Facility gifted to Goa by then PM Dr. Manmohan Singhji is the best solution for online education in Goa. Now admit that for his Ego @BJP4Goa @manoharparrikar stalled a good project of @INCGoa @digambarkamat Govt.

Margao Block Congress thanked Margao MLA Digambar Kamat during whose tenure the Intranet Facility was gifted to Goa as pilot project by then PM Dr. Manmohan Singh. In its tweet Margao Block Congress said : Dear @goacm, So finally you realised that the visionary Intranet Facility gifted to Goa by then PM Dr. Manmohan Singhji is the best solution for online education in Goa. Now admit that for his Ego @BJP4Goa @manoharparrikar stalled a good project of @INCGoa @digambarkamat Govt.

Cuncolim Block Congress also took to tweeter and reminded Chief Minister that the Wifi Connectivity which is now made operational by his Government was available since long. They tweeted : Finally @BJP4Goa @goacm @DrPramodPSawant realises that the only solution for online education is Intranet OFC Facility installed by then @INCGoa Govt under @digambarkamat with blessings of @INCIndia then PM Dr. Manmohan Singhji. Now expand it from every Panchayat.

It may be recalled that Optic Fibre Cable based Intranet Facility was laid across the State and network connectivity had reached every Panchayat when Congress Government under Digambar Kamat was in power. Then Prime Minister Dr. Manmohan Singh had gifted the said project to Goa as a Pilot Project. Incidentally, after BJP Government came to power in 2012 the said project was put in abeyance.

It is now after the breakdown of Covid Pandemic, as the need arised for effective and uninterrupted network connectivity that the Leader of Opposition Digambar Kamat reminded the current government of the facility already available.

He repeatedly urged the Government to activate the Intranet facility which will solve the network connectivity issue.
