PANAJI: The Congress has lodged formal complaints against Bharatiya Janata Yuva Morcha (BJYM) workers over a protest held at Dabolim Airport during the arrival of Congress national president Mallikarjun Kharge’s convoy.
Goa Pradesh Youth Congress (GPYC) president Archit Naik submitted a complaint to the Superintendent of Police, alleging that the protest amounted to a deliberate political conspiracy and interfered with the security arrangements in place for Kharge.
Naik alleged that BJYM workers breached barricades, entered the road and used loudspeakers while the convoy was passing through the area. He claimed the actions amounted to a violation of security protocol and potentially endangered Kharge’s safety.
Naik demanded that Goa Police register an FIR against those responsible and take action in accordance with the law. He also appealed to the police to function independently and prioritise public safety.
Congress leader Amit Palekar questioned why an FIR had not been registered over the incident. He said interference with security arrangements was a serious matter and called upon Goa Police to explain why the BJYM was permitted to stage a protest at the airport during the movement of a Z+ security protectee.
The Congress has sought action against those allegedly involved and demanded a clarification from the police regarding the security arrangements at Dabolim Airport during Kharge’s arrival.
