CANACONA: The Canacona Congress unit celebrated World Environment Day by distributing fruit-bearing saplings and medicinal plants at the Shristhal Panchayat Hall, highlighting the importance of environmental protection and sustainable living.
The programme was led by the Canacona Congress Parivar, with the participation of the Minority Block, Canacona Congress Mahila Block, and Youth Congress leaders Vaishnav Pednekar, State Youth Vice-President of GPCC, and Pralay Bhagat, Youth President of the South Goa District Congress Committee.
A variety of fruit-bearing saplings, including cancer fruit, love apple, arecanut (supari), kokum and choco plants, were distributed along with medicinal plants such as neem, stevia and insulin plants.
Speaking on the occasion, Canacona Congress Mahila Block President Ursila Costa, NSUI Canacona Congress Block President Harsh Dessai, Canacona Block Minority Department Vice-President Remmy Dias, and Canacona Congress Block Minority Cell President Gaspar Coutinho stressed the need to preserve a healthy environment for the well-being of present and future generations.
The leaders encouraged citizens to actively participate in tree plantation and conservation efforts, stating that protecting nature is essential for a sustainable future. The event was attended by a large number of Congress supporters and well-wishers.
