PORVORIM: Chief Minister Pramod Sawant today said that the department has noticed some violations by watersports boats and the department has taken penal action against them.
“Department has noticed some violations by watersports boats and the department has taken penal action against them,” said Sawant.
He further said that every vessel operator/owner is bound by the Inland Vessels Act & Rules. He is fully responsible to ensure total compliance with the safety norms and carrying capacity of the vessel.
“In case of any violations or negligence the vessel operator and owner shall be jointly and severally held responsible for the consequences,” he added.
The Captain of Ports (CoP) department had recently imposed monetary fines on the three cruise boat operators who were found violating safety norms and endangering the lives of tourists while carrying out water sport activity in River Mandovi.
The CoP department sought an explanation from the three cruise boat operators, however, they failed to file their reply, following which monetary fines have been imposed on them.
