PANAJI: As COVID-19 infections hit record high, the Goa government announced night curfew in the State from 10.00pm tonight to 6.00am.
In a fresh restrictions imposed across the State, which will remain in force till April 30, the Chief Minister Dr Pramod Sawant urged citizens not to panic as all the essential services would remain open during the curfew period.
The Chief Minister today chaired the High-level meeting attended by Deputy Chief Ministers Chandrakant Kavlekar and Manohar Ajgaonkar, Health Minister Vishwajit Rane, MLAs from ruling as well as opposition side and other senior officials from concerned departments.
Addressing media post meeting, Sawant said that from tonight State is going for night curfew from 10.00pm to 6.00am till April 30.
He also announced postponement of the Board exams of class X and XII till further order. All the educational institutions except online examination will remain shut till April 30.
While imposing complete ban on visits to religious places, Government has restricted entery to casinos, restaurants, pubs, gyms, cinema theatre to 50 percent of its capacity.
Sawant said that during the night curfew essential services including petrol pump and pharmacy would remain operational.
” I request everyone not to come out of house unless necessary,” he said with a folded hand appealing people to support government to fight pandemic.
In the coastal belt, the Chief Minister said that government has identified areas that would go for micro containment zones.
Permissions for conduct of wedding has been made mandatory from the district authorities.
Sawant said that each government department heads and private establishment to take call on online working.
