PANAJI: With rising COVID-19 cases in the neighbouring cases of Maharashtra and Karnataka, Health Minister Vishwajit Rane on Monday said that government did not pay attention to my request of imposing restrictions on tourists entering the state.
“I had moved a file with the state government of imposing restrictions on tourists entering into Goa. However it doesn’t happen just because i want it. We also have to protect our states economic activities, “ Rane said
He further said that the COVID-19 can be curtailed if people follow all the SoPs laid by the state government.
Rane had said the file was moved after his Department received a letter from the Union Health Ministry, suggesting that in view of the New Year celebrations, each State should ensure that SOPs and strict protocols are laid down after a review of the coronavirus situation at the local level.
