PANAJI: In view of the COVID-19 crises, the Health Department has written to the Chief Election Commissioner (CEO) informing that the Public Health Department/Government has administratively approved to exempt all healthcare institutions’ staff from requisitioning of manpower and machinery/vehicles for Election duties and National Games.
“I am directed to inform you that considering the current exigencies arising out of the pandemic and in order to ensure unhindered medical facilities to all, the Public Health Department/Government has administratively approved to exempt the staff of all healthcare Institutions from requisitioning of manpower and machinery/vehicles etc. for Election duties and National Games,” said Under Secretary Health Trupti Manerkar.
The Health Secretary has further requested to consider the exigency during the pandemic and issue necessary instructions to all the concerned to desist from requisitioning Health Department staff and vehicles for elections.
Goa yesterday had reported eight new cases of the Omicron variant of coronavirus, and five of the patients have no recent travel history.
As per Health bulletin, Goa reported 1,002 coronavirus positive cases in the last 24 hours, totalling 1,83,795. Goa’s positivity rate stands at 17.72 percent.
The state government also has decided to close schools and colleges till January 26 in the wake of a rise in COVID-19 cases.
