PANAJI: From January 15 to 18, 2025, the University Grounds in Taleigao, Goa, witnessed an intense competition as Goa University hosted the Inter-Collegiate Baseball Championship for the 2024-25 season. This four-day event saw 13 men’s and 7 women’s teams from various colleges vying for the top honors.
D.M.’s College and Research Center, Assagao, clinched the women’s baseball title by defeating Shree Damodar College of Commerce and Economics, Margao, in a closely contested final with a margin of just one run. In the men’s category, GVM’s Gopal Govind Poy Raiturcar College of Commerce and Economics, Farmagudi, Ponda, secured the championship by beating Shree Damodar College, Margao, with a significant lead of 9 runs.
The semi-finals were equally thrilling, with D.M.’s College, Assagao, overcoming GVM’s Gopal Govind Poy Raiturcar College by 14 runs in the women’s category, while Shree Damodar College edged out St. Xavier’s College by a single run. In the men’s semi-finals, GVM’s Gopal Govind Poy Raiturcar College narrowly defeated D.M.’s College, Assagao, by one run, and Shree Damodar College outplayed Shree Mallikarjun & Shri. Chetan Manju Desai College by 4 runs.
The best player awards were given to Dhruv Parwar from GVM’s Gopal Govind Poy Raiturcar College in the men’s category and Roshni Parab Mayekar from D.M.’s College, Mapusa, in the women’s category. The prize distribution ceremony was graced by Prof. Dilip Arolkar, Principal of D.M.’s College, Assagao; Prof. Teotone I.M. Vaz, Principal of GVM’s Gopal Govind Poy Raiturcar College; and Mr. Balachandra Jadar, Assistant Director of Physical Education and Sports, Goa University.
The winning teams were comprised of talented players, including Tanaya Naik, Samiksha Raul, and Roshni Parab Mayekar from D.M.’s College, and Jagdish Somji, Ved Patel, and Dhruv Parwar from GVM’s Gopal Govind Poy Raiturcar College.
