PANAJI: The decomposed body of an unidentified man, believed to be between 40 and 45 years old, was found lying in the verandah of a house near the PWD Quarters at Patto, Panaji, on October 5.
According to Panaji Police, a person appeared at the police station at around 1.20 pm and informed police that an unknown person was lying near the PWD Quarters at Patto.
Acting on the information, PSI Rohan Madgaonkar visited the location. The informant pointed out a house which was found closed. Police subsequently noticed the body of an unidentified male, aged approximately 40 to 45 years, lying in the verandah of the house in a decomposed condition.
Police conducted a scene-cum-inquest panchanama at the spot. The body was subsequently shifted to Goa Medical College and Hospital, Bambolim, for preservation, accompanied by Police Constable 9319.
Panaji Police have registered an Unnatural Death (UD) case bearing No. 61/2026 under Section 194 of the Bharatiya Nagarik Suraksha Sanhita (BNSS).
Police have also circulated a message to the Panaji and Porvorim Police Control Rooms and other police stations in an effort to establish the identity of the deceased.
Further investigation is underway.
