MARGAO: A reply in the Goa Assembly by the Transport Minister Mauvin Godinho states that the Govt and the Kadamba Transport Corporation own over 70,000 sq meters of land and yet there is no sign of construction of new bus stand.
Replying to question tabled by the Margao MLA Digambar Kamat, Godinho said, the feasibility report has been submitted by the consultants.
“The document prepared by the Consultant titled “Ultra Modern Transport Hub with Modern Facilities for Inter State Transport at Margao-Goa”. “The Feasibility Report of the project” prepared by the Architectural Consultants & Designers appointed by GSIDC which includes floor plans is enclosed is available with Govt,” it says.
Further, he said, the Transport department has not gone ahead with construction.
“In letter dated 06/06/2022 Department of Public Private Partnership, Government of Goa Conveyed the Government approval for conduct of prefeasibility assessment study by IFC, a member of World Bank Group for redevelopment of Bus terminals at Panjim & Margao on PPP basis,” he said.
Godinho said Department is in possession of land admeasuring an area 70182 sq. mtrs. for construction of Margao bus terminus and depot, of which land owned by KTCL is 34518 sq. mtrs. and land owned by Directorate of Transport is 35664 sq. mtrs. The land is in possession of KTCL from 1985.
“The temporary KTCL bus stand was constructed in the year 1989. The total built up area of temporary bus stand in possession of KTCL is 700 sq. mtrs. 28 bays have been provided in the bus stand premises. Toilet facility and parking area to light vehicles is made available,” he said.
