PANAJI: Director General of Police (DGP) Jaspal Singh today said that he had instructed the traffic police to conduct random checks against drunk driving and overspending.
DGP was speaking at an event to commemorate World World Day Against Trafficking in person organised by the Police Dept in association with NGO Anyay Rahit Zindagi (ARZ).
“I have instructed traffic police to conduct random checks against drunk driving and overspeeding,” said DGP Jaspal Singh.
He further said that the accident that happened at Zuari bridge is unfortunate, and it is obvious that the speed of the vehicle was high which led to breaking the barrier of bridge.
He further, human beings must understand that vehicle is machines and citizens must follow speed limits.
“DGP Goa Jaspal Singh informed that the Police Training School of Goa police is developing a module to train investigating officers to ensure that cases do not result in acquittal and conviction is obtained,” he added.
DGP said that the department also recently held a meeting of Public Prosecutors to identify various causes that led to the acquittal of perpetrators of the crime.
