PANAJI: Chief Minister Pramod Sawant has urged people of the state to maintain communal harmony and alleged that some unsatisfied souls are making conscious efforts to create discord among people.
“Goa has always been known for communal harmony. We have been cordially living here and celebrating religious festivals. But there are some unsatisfied souls who are trying to disrupt communal harmony,” said Sawant.
He urged Goans not to fall prey to their sinister designs and said that he was sure that Goans will not allow such attempts in the peace-loving state.
“Hindus, Christians and Muslims live together here and we have to maintain this tradition. Christian people come to our homes during Ganesh Chaturthi and we go to their houses during Christmas. This tradition has been going on for the last many years. But I feel some unsatisfied souls are trying to disturb this. I appeal to everyone to maintain peace and brotherhood,” Sawant said.
Sawant had recently come under attack from the opposition for hitting out at the INDIA bloc over the ‘Sanatan Dharma’ controversy sparked by DMK leader Udhayanidhi Stalin’s comments on the same.
Sawant also announced a tie up with food delivery firm Swiggy to home deliver Ganesh Chaturthi related food items by launching a special online platform called ‘Swayampoorna E-Bazaar Platform’.
