New Delhi: The father of Pune realtor Ketan Agarwal has appealed to President Droupadi Murmu for speedy justice, urging that his son’s murder case be fast tracked and not allowed to fade into prolonged legal proceedings.
In an emotional email, Vishal Agarwal described the devastating impact of the tragedy on his family, saying he had lost not only his 26 year old son but also his father within weeks of the incident. He wrote that his father was unable to cope with the grief of losing his grandson, and his health deteriorated before he died following a cardiac arrest.
Expressing the family’s anguish, Vishal said every day begins and ends with the same question of when Ketan will receive justice. He stressed that he was writing not as a businessman but as a grieving father seeking accountability for his son’s death.
Appealing for urgent action, he requested that the case be heard in a fast track court and that those found guilty receive the strictest punishment permitted under law. He said the family was not seeking special treatment but only a timely judicial process, adding that delays in justice only deepen the suffering of victims’ families. He also urged that the case should not become just another pending file, saying a shattered family stands behind every page of the investigation.
Ketan Agarwal died after falling into a gorge at Lohagad Fort near Pune on June 18. Initially believed to be a trekking accident, the case later turned into a murder investigation. Police allege that his fiancée, Siya Goyal, and her friend Chetan Babulal Chaudhary conspired to kill him by pushing him off the cliff. Both have been arrested and charged with murder and criminal conspiracy.
Investigators claim the murder was pre planned, alleging that the accused met before the incident to finalise the plot and carried out online searches related to murder methods. Police have reconstructed the crime scene using a dummy matching Ketan’s weight, examined CCTV footage, seized electronic devices and vehicles, and recovered digital evidence, including alleged coded conversations.
A court has since sent both accused to 14 days of magistrate custody after rejecting the police request for further custodial interrogation. The investigation into the alleged conspiracy and the motive behind Ketan Agarwal’s death remains ongoing.
