Mormugao: The Mormugao Muslim Welfare Association organised an Eid-e-Milan programme and felicitation ceremony at Ravindra Bhavan on Tuesday afternoon, witnessing a large turnout from across Mormugao taluka.
A key highlight of the event was the felicitation of ‘Nanhe Rozadars’ and ‘Buzurg Rozadars’, recognising both the youngest and oldest members of the community who observed fasting during the holy month of Ramadan.
Among the notable moments was the recognition of a 3.3-year-old child, Fija, who observed a one-day fast, making her one of the youngest participants. At the other end of the spectrum, an 83-year-old devotee was honoured for successfully completing the entire month of fasting, drawing admiration from attendees.
Organisers reported record participation this year, with 335 children in the Nanhe Rozadar category, 45 elderly participants, 68 entries in the Naat competition, and 42 participants in the cooking competition. The programme also featured cultural performances, religious recitations, and community interactions, fostering a festive and inclusive atmosphere.
Members of the association stated that the initiative aims to promote values of faith, discipline, and unity, while recognising the dedication of individuals across age groups during Ramadan. The efforts of young participants were widely appreciated, while special respect was extended to elderly rozadars for their commitment.
The organisers expressed gratitude to all participants and attendees for contributing to the success of the event. The programme concluded on a note of communal harmony, reflecting the spirit of Eid and shared celebration.
