PANAJI:
The fear of Aam Aadmi Party’s impact on Goa and Goan politics today was clearly visible in the CM Pramod Sawant’s Independence day address as he announced a free water scheme for Goans. After hearing this announcement Goans want to know what took the BJP so long ? It looks like the Kejriwal Model has not only arrived but is here to stay in Goa. BJP the party who refused to give anything free to its citizens has now started to fall in line purely out of the fear and the heat of AAP’s presence in Goa. This very clearly shows that AAP is the only party that can fight the BJP. The AAP has extracted a promise of services for Goans from the BJP without a single MLA, something the Congress has failed to do over 10 years. Goans across the state however are very well aware that this is nothing but an empty promise by the Sawant Sarkar which ignored their needs for the last 4 years.
That the Aam Aadmi Party has been growing from strength to strength in Goa has been no secret. Starting with the Veej Andolan the party has visited almost every single Panchayat of Goa and reached out to Goenkars with the Kejriwal Model of Governance. Goans are aware that the Kejriwal Sarkar provides its citizens with free healthcare, power and water which has led to them raising the question that if Kejriwal can do this why not Sawant and the BJP.
Goenkars are asking Pramod Sawant- Why did you take 4 years to make this announcement just before elections? Is it only fear of Aam Aadmi Party that made you recognise that a Govt’s job is to provide citizens with services?
These questions go a long way in explaining the Sawant Sarkars apparent U-turn on providing free services to Goenkars in return for the taxes they pay. Goenkars remember clearly that Sawant’s colleague, Nilesh Cabral had just last month firmly state that the Sawant Sarkar would never give any free services to Goans a fact he reiterated arrogantly in his debate with Aam Aadmi Party’s Power Minister Satyendar Jain. The Sawant Sarkar however seems to be facing severe heat from all sides as to why Goenkars don’t get any services due to them and have been forced by AAP’s aggressive outreach in Goa to announce free water.
The writing on the wall is clear. BJP is afraid of Aam Aadmi Party & that Aam Aadmi Party’s model is the only way forward to save Goa. Goenkars have also realised that what the Congress was not able to do in the last 10 years sitting in the opposition benches the Aam Aadmi Party has managed by just campaigning on the ground without a single MLA in the house yet! It is very clear that Goenkars are going to support AAP in large numbers because they would rather go for the party with a proven track record rather than a party that has just fooled them over years.
“I am glad that Sawant woke from his slumber & finally admits that only the Kejriwal Model can save Goans” AAP Goa Convenor Rahul Mhambre. “But Goenkars are smart and understand that the only reason Sawant has announced this towards the end of his term is to save himself from Aam Aadmi Party” added Mhambre
“After failing Goenkars for so many years and arrogantly denying them their rights and services, Pramod Sawant now realises only the Kejriwal Model is the future” said AAP Leader Mahadev Naik. “Sawant is desperate because he thinks this jumla will win over voters, but Goans know they cannot trust a man who is not able to even provide proper water supply” added Naik
“Goenkars know that it is only after AAP started raising their issues that today the BJP and it’s CM Pramod Sawant have made an announcement on free water. Their arrogance during the electricity debate has disappeared as they have realised that AAP is the only party that Goenkars look to for change” said Adv Surel Tilve AAP Vice President.
