CANACONA – Bugged-up with no action coming from the authorities, residents in Canacona continue to attend works on their own using self resources to repair the roads, even as monsoons are fast approaching.
Incidentally, with many roads which were supposed to be attended by PWD to repair and restore before the onset of monsoons continue to linger- on, worried residents have now started to take the responsibility into their own hands, as PWD’s failure to undertake and complete the works now, will only worsen their situation during monsoon.
In such circumstances, residents of Talpona (Ward 6) of Poinginnim village have taken up to fill up the village side road potholes on their own with their own resources.
One Vikas Prabhu, Sriranga Pagui, Santosh Metri, Ravi Pagui, Nilesh Pagui, Chandrahas Pagui, supported by others, took up to fill the potholes on Sunday.
The villagers facing difficulties in using this road since a year back, used their personal equipment, besides materials such as Sand, Cement and plastered the road plinth to level the road.
Villagers stated it’s not right to wait for the authorities to act, congratulating and thanking youths for leading from the front and repairing the potholed road themselves.
It may be recalled only last week, the sarpanch of Agonda repaired a road in the village using his own resources and making expenses of over 53,000/-, citing the authorities playing to the galleries of their political masters are turning blind eyes to the people’s needs.
