CHINCHINIM: An FIR has been registered following an alleged attack on AAP Goa Working President and Chinchinim-Deussua Sarpanch Gerson Gomes inside the Chinchinim Panchayat office.
Gomes was admitted to the surgery ward of South Goa District Hospital (SGDH) following the incident. He is believed to have suffered hairline fractures and has also complained of chest pain.
He was initially treated at Balli Primary Health Centre before being shifted to SGDH for further medical care.
The alleged assault took place inside the Panchayat office, following which the Aam Aadmi Party sought police intervention and demanded action in connection with the incident.
With the FIR now registered, police are expected to investigate the circumstances surrounding the alleged attack and ascertain the sequence of events.
The AAP has maintained that political differences and disputes involving elected representatives should be resolved through lawful and democratic means.
