KUNDAIM: Mardol police have taken five people into custody in relation to the theft of Rs 1.5 lakh from a rider at the Kundaim Industrial Estate.
As to the Mardol police, Chaturbhuj Ghintal from Rajasthan lodged a police complaint on October 9, claiming that he was stopped by two individuals in a car while riding a scooter at the Kundaim IDC at approximately 2:20 pm.
Ghintal was shoved into the bushes at the side of the road by the accused, who then grabbed him by the mouth. Afterwards, they unlocked the scooter’s glove box, and took out Rs. 1.5 lakh in cash, and ran away from the scene.
Pawan Yadav and Nagaraj Talwar, both from Vasco, were apprehended for using CCTV video and electronic surveillance. Police also confiscated the car that was utilized in the crime.
The two suspects allegedly admitted to their roles in the crime during questioning, according to the police, and they were both taken into custody.
During questioning, the accused revealed the identities of three more accomplices: Raju Waddar, who lives close to Amona Cross, Quepem; Raju Regi of Mangor Hill, Mormugao; and Ashok Pandrekar, a native of Kodibag-Karwar but a resident of Malbhat-Margao.
Along with recovering the stolen money from the accused, the three collaborators in the crime were also apprehended and placed under arrest.
The Ponda JMFC later remanded all four defendants to police detention.
