VASCO: Chief Minister Pramod Sawant today said that he has instructed the DGP to take strict action against touts, beggars and those indulging in illegalities, especially in the coastal areas.
CM Sawant addressed the gathering after flagging off the 15M Fast Interceptor Patrol Boat” & IdeaForge Micro UAV at Goa Shipyard Limited.
“Illegalities will not be tolerated in coastal areas; people from all over the country come here and set up their businesses. I have asked the DGP to keep strict vigil and take strict action against touts and beggars,’ said CM Sawant.
He further said that as a home minister, he was very proud that Goa has the country’s highest crime detection rate, which is 93 per cent.
“All the departments have been doing a commendable job in detection and solving different cases,” he added.
The Home department will develop several initiatives for women’s safety as soon as possible,” Sawant said.
He also lauded the state police for topping the national crime record charts vis a vis crime detection rate.
“We have the highest crime detection rate in the country. But we need (to focus on) the prevention of crime. We need to work on prevention. No doubt, you are detecting crime. But you will say, how can we prevent crime. It is possible,” the CM said.
At G20, CM said that this is a good opportunity for God to showcase our culture and cuisine to G20 delegates. He added that this will help us attract many foreign tourists to the state.
Sawant said that as chief minister, he has given importance to making the state self-reliant. “We aim to make Goa self-sufficient and a leader in various aspects – education, sanitation, good governance, promotion of local entrepreneurs,” he said.
