VASCO: Goa Chambers of Commerce & Industry’s logistics committee chairman Chandrakant Gawas attended the 35th DRUCC Railway meeting in Hubbali Gawas proposed to upgrade the Dabolim and Vasco railway station on par with the Hubbali Railway station.
GCCI logistics committee head Chandrakant Gawas said that he attended the 35th DRUCC railway meeting in Hubbali, where he had gone as a representative from the business sector. He said that during this meeting, he has proposed to the railway authorities to upgrade the Vasco and Dabolim railway stations on par with the Hubbali Railway station.
Gawas said he personally visited the Dabolim railway station, which is in a sorry state and needs immediate upgradation. He said that Hubbali Railway station has several facilities available for tourists and passengers, including lodging. Vasco is one of the main railway stations there should be up-gradation of services and facilities here.
Commenting on his experience while travelling via railway, he said that “I have also made a suggestion related to the timing of the local passenger trains which should be favourable to the passengers who come to Margao, Vasco and other places for work.”
Gawas said that we have options such as Waterways, Railways and airways to transport the cargo and considering this, how the business group will benefit from it was discussed during this meeting.
He said that the one-station-one product scheme brought by the Central Government is also good in terms of employment generation, which needs to be encouraged and promoted, he said.
SWR, in its press release, has stated that the 35th Divisional Railway Users Consultative Committee Meeting of the Hubballi Division was conducted at Hubballi on 29 June 2022 under the Chairmanship of Arvind Malkhede, Divisional Railway Manager, Hubballi. 09 DRUCC Members participated in the meeting to discuss various issues pertaining to passenger amenities, train services etc.
