PANAJI: The Goa Coastal Zone Management Authority (GCZMA) has finally called for a personal hearing of Fomento Resorts’ alleged CRZ violations at the Vainguinim Valley.
The GCZMA, in a public hearing notice, said that it had received a complaint letter dated 1910412021 from Bhanu Shirdokar, resident of Nagali Taleigao. The office has also received a complaint from Vainguinim Valley Residents Association dated 2010412021 with regards to alleged illegal construction & development being carried out within the CRZ NDZ Zones by the Owners/management of Fomento Resorts, Cidade de Goa Resort at the Vainguinim Beach, Dona Paula; without obtaining any proper permission from the Competent Authorities.
“Upon receipt of the complaint, the GCZMA, through its Expert Member on 20/04/2021 carried out a site inspection and submitted a report of this office. In the said Site inspection dated 20/04/2021; of the Expert Member; it is stated that the representative of Fomento Resorts and Hotels submitted a copy of CRZ approval granted for repairs, that the work is carried out in phases as per the design prepared in consultation with WRD and the work is carried out as per the approval granted,” it said.
The GCZMA said that the complainants alleged that the site inspection carried out on 20/04/2021 was in their absence & hence they pleaded for a fresh site inspection carried out 23/04/2021 by GCZMA Experts.
In this regard, the GCZMA has now decided to call the parties for a personal hearing on 19/08/2021 at 3,30 p m, onwards, GCZMA says.
“You are now required to remain present for the personal hearing or depute your duly authorized representative with all the documents, approved plan before the Authority at 4th floor Dempo Towers, Patto, Panaji, Goa on 19/08/2021, at 3.30 pm,” the notice reads.
Take note that, in case of failure to attend the said personal hearing, it will be presumed that you have nothing to say in the matter, and the Authority will proceed further with a future course of action as per law.
It may also be noted that since this is an NGT court direction matter, no adjournment will be granted to the parties for a personal hearing, the GCZMA said.
