Board advises GEL to expand its business by taking up the software development work for other State Departments, Central Government departments and PSUs.

Goa Electronics Limited (GEL), a subsidiary company of EDC Limited, held their 222nd Board meeting on 18th November 2021 at 11 AM in the conference hall, Minister’s Block, Secretariat, Porvorim, Goa under the Chairmanship of Dr Pramod Sawant, Chairman and Chief Minister.
Sadanand Tanavade, Chairman, EDC Limited and officials of EDC Limited, and the Board Members welcomed the CM to the Board of GEL.
During this meeting, the financial statements of the company for the year 2020-21 were approved. The Board appreciated the progress of the Corporation and especially appreciated its positive financial sustainability through the pandemic years.
The company apprised the Board on the status of important projects, including Bhumija – Ore Tracking and Management System and Goaonline.
Bhumija – Ore Tracking and Management System: The major components of the project include deployment of a comprehensive software encapsulating all operations of Ore movement and its management for the DMG, Vehicle Tracking System, Setting up and operating a control room to track the movement and fitting and maintaining VTS devices in all trucks barges and ore machinery involved in the movement.
This activity was earlier managed by a private firm, and the amount charged to the truck owners was approximately Rs.850/- per truck per month. The CM initiated Bhumija with GEL immediately on holding office as Chairman and ensuring its implementation within a short span. As an outcome, the rate charged to the truck owners has now been reduced to Rs.450/- per truck per month. Additionally, with the setup of the Control room at DMG, the complete data monitoring and management will be handled by GEL at the DMG office. The CM congratulated the entire team of GEL for taking up this important project under its control.
Goaonline: The state Service Delivery Portal is now facilitating 25+ departments delivering 162 services and almost 2190000 transactions (including payment services) have been availed on the portal.
CM emphasized the requirement to onboard all the remaining departments and their services to this portal to have maximum inter-department service integrations and data sharing to facilitate a true single-window experience for the citizens.
The Team at GEL was asked to identify all services, mainly citizen-centric, outside the ambit of Goaonline to be onboarded immediately.
During the meeting, the Board advised GEL to expand its business by taking up the software development work for other State Departments, Central Government departments and PSUs.
During the Board meeting, GEL decided to take plots admeasuring 2000 sq.mts at Pilerne Industrial Estate for setting up a “GEL BHAVAN” for its software development activities.
