PANAJI: Forest Minister Vishwajit Rane said that the Government of Goa has designated the Goa Forest Development Corporation (GFDC) as the nodal agency responsible for all tourism-related activities within the demarcated forest areas.
“The Goa Forest Department, after discussion with the Government of India, has designated the Goa Forest Development Corporation (GFDC) as the nodal agency responsible for all tourism-related activities within the demarcated forest areas,” said Rane.
He further said that GFDC will manage activities including waterfall circuits, trails, and treks.
“Dr. Deviya Rane, Chairperson of GFDC, will chair a high-level meeting with Forest Department officials, and a detailed presentation will be given to the Director General of Forest and the Union Minister for Forest,’ he added.
In a recent meeting chaired by the Forest Minister, it was stated that GFDC will be the sole authorized agency for operating in the forest areas, an MoU will be signed by the Forest Department with GFDC to oversee and manage all activities in the forest regions.
