FATORDA: Goa Forward Party (GFP) spokesperson Adv. Ashma has criticised the BJP government over the sexual assault allegations against a Crime Branch Police Inspector, questioning the government’s response and demanding decisive action against the accused officer.
“Why is the BJP government shielding the PI? Is it because he was associated with the BJP cadre in Quepem? Does political affiliation give an individual immunity from accountability, even in a case as serious as sexual assault?” questioned Adv. Ashma.
She alleged that the BJP’s ‘Beti Bachao’ slogan was not being reflected in its actions, stating that the government’s apparent reluctance to act decisively in such a serious matter raises questions about its commitment to women’s safety and accountability.
Adv. Ashma demanded the immediate termination of the Police Inspector from service and called for strict legal action following a fair and impartial investigation.
“An officer entrusted with protecting citizens cannot be allowed to escape accountability. Political connections must not become a shield against the law. There must be zero tolerance for sexual assault, and no one should be above the law,” she asserted.
