Panaji: The State government seems to be getting good response as far as the plasma donation by the COVID19 survivors in the State.
Initially after a poor response, Health Minister Vishwajit Rane said that the “Mission plasma has been going on at a good pace. 25 packs of plasma are being collected each day.”
“We had overwhelming response from plasma therapy and Remdesivir. GMC doctors and students will be publishing case papers on the Goa Model for COVID treatment from the success stories,” he said.
Further, Rane said that as demands for Home Isolation is rising, the outreach in terms of calls to patients under home isolation is greater than 80%.
“GMC has provided 3rd year MBBS students for patient calling which has increased our outreach to home isolation patients,” he said.
So far, he added, 50 home isolation patients have been referred to hospital till now.
On the Unlock mode is on, Rane stated, as public places and tourism is increasing, health department is well prepared in terms of testing, treatment and other required infrastructure.
“Testing is back on track, we are testing close to 1800 people daily and will slowly scale ahead to earlier levels of 2500 tests per day,” he said.
He further informed that the facilities in South Goa district hospital will be strengthened to include ICU and ITU.
“SGDH to be the major COVID Hospital. Infrastructural improvements will help in transitioning SGDH to a world class hospital with cutting edge equipment post COVID-19,” he said.
He added that the Mental Health of people is also of serious concern, “we are tying up with NIMHANS for extensive training and counseling to help people overcome their stress”.
