PANAJI: Amid rumors of a cabinet overhaul, BJP national general secretary (organization) B L Santhosh met with Goa Chief Minister Pramod Sawant and other state party leaders.
The CM, several B.JP. MLAs, and ministers were the subject of one-on-one talks that began late on Tuesday night in Panaji.
Even though he attended the discussions, Goa BJP President Damodar Naik later denied that the topic of government reshuffle was discussed.
“BJP’s National General Secretary, B.L. Santosh, is in Goa to conduct organizational meetings; discussions were held on the strengthening party; no decision on cabinet reshuffle,” said Naik
MLAs Dr. Chandrakant Shetye, Nilesh Cabral, and Joshua D’Souza met Santhosh at the hotel together with CM Sawant and a number of other state officials, including Health Minister Vishwajit Rane and Environment Minister Aleixo Sequeira.
Post meeting, the chief minister declined to provide specifics.Damu Naik responded that the meetings were “merely for organisational purpose” when questioned about it.
He denied that the talks with Santhosh included any talk of a government overhaul.
They had asked Santhosh for time to meet during his visit to Goa, according to Legislator Nilesh Cabral.
“No one called us. He declined to divulge the topics of conversation with the senior BJP politician, saying, “We asked for time to meet and spoke to him one-on-one.”
Meanwhile, Independent MLA Dr Chandrakant Shetye said that he’s ready to go in the BJP and contest 2027 assembly elections on BJP ticket.
“I do not know if he’s going to get the ticket from the party or not but I ready for it,” said Shetye
