PANAJI: Chief Minister Pramod Sawant chaired a meeting at Mahalaxmi in Panaji to review the establishment and operationalisation of the Goa College of Fisheries Science.
The meeting discussed key requirements related to the proposed college, including infrastructure, land and facilities, staffing and faculty requirements, as well as the construction of a dedicated college building.
A proposal to transfer 2.6 hectares of land under the Veterinary Department for construction of the new college building was also discussed during the meeting.
The establishment of the Goa College of Fisheries Science is aimed at strengthening fisheries education and scientific research while developing skilled human resources for Goa’s fisheries sector.
Sawant said the initiative would contribute to building academic and technical capacity in fisheries and support the long-term development of the sector in the state.
