PANAJI: Continuous monsoon showers across Goa’s catchment areas have led to a steady rise in water levels at the state’s major dams, according to the latest Water Resources Department data released on June 30.
Among the reservoirs, Salaulim Dam recorded 580.25 mm of rainfall and reached a water level of 31.65 metres, with storage standing at 7,359 hectare metres (Ha.m), or 31.4% of its full capacity.
Anjunem Dam received the highest rainfall of 683.20 mm, while its storage reached 491.50 Ha.m, accounting for 11% of total capacity.
Amthane Dam stood at 55.9% of its storage capacity after receiving 520 mm of rainfall, while Chapoli Dam reached 48% capacity with 646.20 mm of rainfall.
Gaunem Dam, despite recording no rainfall on the day, remained at 55.4% capacity, while Panchawadi Dam stood at 23.5% after receiving 565.04 mm of rain.
Meanwhile, Tillari Dam recorded 505.60 mm of rainfall and reached 28.8% of its storage capacity. It was also the only reservoir reporting water discharge, releasing 4.32 cumecs.
Officials are closely monitoring reservoir levels as the southwest monsoon continues to remain active across the state.
