CANACONA: As part of Van-Mahotsav-2023 week, Goa Forest’ South Marine Range is holding Van-Mahotsav in various schools of Canacona.
Van Mahotsav 2023 is observed from 1st July to 7th of July’ annually as per the national calender.
Goa Forest Department’s Wildlife and Eco-Tourism (South-Goa Division), South Marine Range with Galgibaga as headquarters held Van-Mahotsav-2023 at St. Anthony High School, Galgibaga and Government Higher School, Agonda on Tuesday and Wednesday , respectively. Saplings/Plants of Guava, Lime, Pomegranate, Tamarind, Avalo, Lemon-Grass were planted in the school compounds, while forest department handed over some more saplings for planting at the students houses.
Assistant Conservator of Forests Damodar Salelkar, RFO Rajesh V Naik, gave talks on importance of Van-Mahotsav and needs top plant and grow more plants and trees.
Poinguinim Dy. Sarpanch Sunil Paigankar, St. Anthony HS, Galgibaga Headmistress Movino Pereira, were present almost others along-with the school students and Round Foresters, forest Guards and Forest Rescuers.
At Agonda GHS, South Marine Range RFO Rajesh V Naik guided the students and teachers of the to plant more of fruit bearing trees in the vast school compound, and protect the same by watering in the summer days. ‘It is observed to spread awareness about the importance of forests, forestlands, Plants and trees in our lives, Naik informed.
Sarpanch Preetal Fernandes, GHS Agonda Headmaster Ganpati Naik, along-with Round Foresters, Guards and Rescuers for the Van-Mahotsav celebrations at Agonda.
Forest Department has scheduled the next Van-Mahotsav at Govt High School, Sadolxcem on Friday (7th Jul).-
