PANAJI: Under the Mahatma Gandhi National Rural Employment Guarantee Act (MGNREGA), the Goa government increased the daily remuneration for unskilled manual labor by Rs 34.
With effect from April 1, 2024, the central government has previously increased the daily pay under the scheme from Rs 322 to Rs 356. As a result, workers under the plan now receive higher daily salaries from the Goa government.
The most recent data on the MGNREGA website indicates that there are 51,093 registered workers in Goa, 6,893 of them are now employed. 32,624 of the 51,093 registered employees are female.
According to the data, out of all the registered workers, 32,730 belong to the general category, 1,117 are from Scheduled Castes (SC), and 17,246 are from Scheduled Tribes (ST).
