PANAJI: According to industry secretary Swetika Sachan, the government will soon launch a logistic incentive scheme that would allow investors in the logistics sector to apply for subsidies, thereby triggering the state’s Logistics & Warehousing Policy 2023.
According to her, the incentive plan is nearing completion and will shortly be submitted for approval to the legislative assembly.
According to Sachan, “three rounds of meetings with logistics and cargo stakeholders have already been held to address concerns on incentives.”
Under the logistics policy, a financial clearance of Rs 25 crore has been made available for incentives.
In May 2023, Goa’s logistics policy was made known. However, because the government has not yet resolved a number of concerns pertaining to the policy’s execution, only a portion of it has been implemented.
The industry secretary clarified, “The government’s goal is to create employment for local youth and encourage small-sized logistics companies to set up offices. The industry is interested in the quantum of incentives.”
Sachan gave a speech at the GCCI opening of the Air Cargo Forum India (ACFI) Goa branch.
The business head of Goa Air Cargo at Manohar International Airport in Mopa and the recently elected chairman of ACFI-Goa, Thakur Purushottam Singh, declared that the representative organization will work cooperatively to advance the state’s logistics and cargo sector.
“Our Goa office will examine the regulatory obstacles that logistics companies face and will also strive to prepare local youth for employment through digitalization of services, among other things,” Singh stated.
He stated that a significant level of skilling will be necessary for local kids to fill employment vacancies in logistics.
According to Singh, “the air cargo volume in Goa is estimated at 40,000 MT annually.”
Mohammed Raza Khan was introduced as ACFI-Goa’s vice-chairman during the event.
The inaugural event of ACFI-Goa was attended by CEOs of local logistics companies, GIDC managing director Pravimal Abhishek, ASSOCHAM Goa Council president Manguirish Pai Raikar, and cargo heads of major airlines like Air India, Air Arabia, and SpiceJet.
