PANAJI: The Goa Industrial Development Corporation (Goa-IDC) conducted its 394th Board Meeting today, with the participation of Shri. Mauvin Godinho, Hon’ble Minister for Industries, Shri Alexio Lourenco Reginaldo, Chairman, Goa-IDC, Shri. Pravimal Abhishek, Managing Director-Goa-IDC, Shri. Shrinivas Dempo, GCCI-President, Shri.Anirudh Dempo, GSIA-President and Board of Directors, Shri.Sandeep Sood, Shri.Savio Correia and Shri. Carlton Almeida.
The meeting saw several significant developments aimed at enhancing Goa’s industrial infrastructure and promote industrial growth in the state. One of the most notable decisions was the approval of infrastructure projects exceeding ₹100 crore, which will focus on improving the facilities within industrial estates across the state. This substantial investment reaffirms the Corporation’s commitment to creating a more robust industrial landscape.
In a forward-thinking move, the Goa Industrial Development Corporation (Goa-IDC) announced a collaboration with the World Economic Forum to organize a workshop on Artificial Intelligence tailored specifically for Micro, Small, and Medium Enterprises (MSMEs). This initiative aims to equip local industries with cutting-edge knowledge and tools to enhance productivity and competitiveness in the global market.
Chairman Goa-IDC, Shri Aleixo Reginaldo Lourenco reaffirmed his dedication to ensuring the financial stability of the Corporation. He proudly announced that the Goa-IDC has successfully overcome its debt burden, signalling a new era of fiscal responsibility and sustainable growth for the organization.
Another major milestone highlighted during the meeting was the onboarding of over 1,000 industries onto the OPEN (Online Platform for Enterprise Network). This move significantly strengthens digital governance and streamlines industrial operations, positioning Goa as a digitally progressive industrial hub.
For the current year, Goa-IDC’s primary focus will be on infrastructure development within industrial estates. Priorities include ensuring pothole-free roads and upgrading water supply systems to meet the growing demands of industries. In line with these goals, the introduction of white topping technology for internal roads was announced—a first for Goa. This advanced road construction method promises greater durability and smoother surfaces, enhancing transportation within industrial areas.
Lastly, the meeting marked the initiation of Solid Waste Management services, beginning with the Verna Industrial Estate. This step reflects Goa-IDC’s commitment to sustainable industrial practices and environmental responsibility, setting a precedent for other industrial estates to follow.
These initiatives highlight Goa-IDC’s unwavering dedication to strengthening the state’s industrial ecosystem by implementing strategic reforms and infrastructural advancements thus improving ease of doing business in the state. These efforts not only attract new investments but also support existing industries in scaling their operations efficiently.
