PANAJI: Goa is set to establish its long-awaited Maritime Board before September 30, Ports Minister Digambar Kamat announced on Friday, describing the move as a major step towards strengthening the state’s maritime sector.
Speaking at a function in Panaji, Kamat said the Goa Maritime Board would become operational before the end of September and would play a key role in shaping the future of the state’s ports, waterways and maritime infrastructure.
“The Goa Maritime Board will come into existence before September 30. It is the future of the country and the state,” the Minister said.
Kamat said the formation of the Board would help streamline the administration and development of Goa’s maritime sector while creating a dedicated institutional framework to oversee port-related activities and future projects.
He noted that the government is focusing on modernising maritime infrastructure and improving water-based transport to support economic growth and tourism. The proposed Board is expected to provide greater coordination in planning and executing maritime initiatives across the state.
