PANAJI: Goa is the First State to have banks in all the Villages, asserted Chief Minister Dr Pramod Sawant. Highlighting the Pradhan Mantri Awas Yojana by the Government of India, he urged the bankers to take the initiative to guide the people w.r.t the subsidies, various policies and schemes as many people are unaware of these schemes to derive benefits in starting businesses, housing etc.
Speaking at an inaugural function of the Credit Outreach Programme organised by SBI at IMB today, he outlined the need to increase scheme coverage like Prime Minister’s Employment Generation Programme (PMEGP). The scheme provides almost 30% subsidy, he said and appealed to the public to avail benefits of all Government schemes.
Highlighting the centrally sponsored Insurance policies, the Chief Minister urged everyone to register themselves under the Pradhan Mantri Bima Yojana and requested all the bankers to promote state and centrally sponsored insurance policies in Goa. It’s possible only with the assistance of banks to do the insurance and make this State 100% Insurance State, he remarked.
The chief minister distributed almost 129 loan sanction letters worth Rs. 18.65 crores to beneficiaries on occasion. He also congratulated all the banks for providing loans to budding entrepreneurs in setting/starting different businesses.
General Manager and convenor SLBC Smt Sukhwinder Kaur, Regional Director, RBI, Smt Smita Kumar and other dignitaries were present on occasion.
