OLD GOA: Old Goa Police booked a St Cruz resident Nazario D’Souza under section 500 of IPC and Section 2 of Prevention of Insults to National Honour Act 1971 for depicting the Prime Minister as a chameleon on the national flag and posted the same on the Facebook profile.
This amounts to insulting the Indian national flag and also harming the reputation of the Prime Minister of India.
Accused is yet to be arrested.
One Inacio Pereira of St Cruz had filed a Complaint against Nazario DSouza for Insulting National Flag and Violating Flag Code thus insulting our Honourable PM of India Narendra Modi.
“On the eve of Independence Day, I came across a deeply offensive and derogatory post on Nazario DSouza’s Facebook profile. In this post, he depicted the Prime Minister of our country as a “chameliyon” (chameleon) on the national flag. This blatant disrespect not only undermines the dignity of our national symbols but also insults our honorable Prime Minister,” tyhe complainant said.
He said Nazario DSouza’s actions are in violation of the Indian Penal Code and the Flag Code of India, and he should be held accountable for his offensive behavior. I kindly request your prompt attention and action in this matter.
“It is imperative that appropriate legal actions be taken against Nazario DSouza under relevant sections of the IPC and the Flag Code. I am ready and willing to cooperate fully with the authorities and provide any necessary evidence or information to aid in the investigation and prosecution of this case,” he stated.
