MAPUSA: A 31-year-old mentally challenged lady was allegedly raped in his rented room on Monday by a 21-year-old male from Chattisgarh, according to Mapusa Police.
Within two hours of the victim’s mother filing a report at Mapusa Police Station, police had apprehended the suspect.
According to the woman’s mother, the accused enticed her daughter by promising to buy her pan masala, unlawfully imprisoned her in his room, and then forced her to engage in sexual activity with him.
According to police sources, the accused knew the victim’s family because he was their neighbour.
Different teams were formed by Mapusa PI Shitakant Nayak shortly after receiving the complaint to gather intelligence and find the culprits.
Police finally apprehended the accused Vijay Kashmiri, who lives in Bardez but is originally from Chhattisgarh, after completing a thorough investigation.
A violation of Sections 342, 376 (2) (I) of the IPC and 92-D of the Right of Persons with Disabilities Act has been reported by the police.
