PANAJI: Goa Police has unveiled a comprehensive three-year roadmap to intensify its fight against drug abuse and narcotics trafficking, with a strategy centred on strict enforcement, public awareness and strengthening the capabilities of law enforcement personnel.
The roadmap was announced by Deputy Inspector General (DIG) Ved Prakash Surya while addressing the prize distribution ceremony organised by the Anti Narcotic Cell to mark the International Day Against Drug Abuse and Illicit Trafficking 2026.
Speaking on the occasion, Surya said the action plan focuses on three key areas—effective enforcement against drug-related offences, sustained public awareness campaigns and capacity building within the police force to tackle the evolving challenges posed by the narcotics trade.
He appealed to citizens to actively support the anti-drug campaign by reporting any information related to drug trafficking or drug abuse through the MANAS helpline. Assuring complete confidentiality, the DIG said every credible input would be acted upon promptly by the police.
Surya stressed that community participation is vital in the fight against drugs and said the cooperation of the public would play a crucial role in curbing the menace across the State.
Reaffirming the force’s commitment, he said Goa Police remains determined to make the State drug-free through sustained enforcement, preventive initiatives and active public involvement.
“Our commitment is to make Goa a Drug-Free State,” Surya said.
