PANAJI: Goa registered a mixed performance in Goods and Services Tax (GST) collections for May 2026, with the state posting robust growth in State GST (SGST) revenues even as its overall GST collections declined compared to the same period last year.
According to data released by the Ministry of Finance, Goa’s overall GST revenue stood at ₹535 crore in May 2026, down 8% from ₹582 crore collected in May 2025.
However, Goa’s SGST collections showed significant improvement. Pre-settlement SGST revenue increased by 18% from ₹192 crore in May 2025 to ₹226 crore in May 2026. After the settlement of the SGST portion of IGST, Goa’s SGST receipts rose by 15% from ₹346 crore to ₹397 crore during the same period.
The data also indicates that Goa’s cumulative SGST collections for April-May 2026 reached ₹536 crore, marking a 10% increase over ₹489 crore collected during the corresponding period last year. Post-settlement SGST revenue for the first two months of the financial year surged by 24% to ₹916 crore, compared to ₹740 crore in April-May 2025.
Goa’s GST taxpayer base also expanded substantially, with the number of registered GST taxpayers rising from 20,337 to 29,664 as of May 31, 2026.
While the decline in overall GST collections reflects softer tax inflows during the month, the strong growth in SGST revenues and the increase in registered taxpayers point towards a strengthening state tax base and improved revenue mobilisation.
