CANACONA: Saplings were planted and distributed to the Special Children as the Shristhal Biodiversity Management Committee (BMC) in collaboration with the Forest Department organized Vanmahotsav at the Lok Vishwas Pratishthan at Mokhard-Bhatpal in Canacona.
On this occasion State Tax Department Deputy Commissioner and Swayampurna friend of Shristhal Panchayat Vipul Naik Gaonkar was the Chief Guest while BJP State General Secretary Sarvanand Bhagat and Social Worker Somdutt Deshmukh were present as the guests of honour.
Speaking on the occasion, Vipul Naik Gaonkar recognized the need for environmental conservation programs like Vanmahotsav and appreciated the various undertaken by the Shristhal Biodiversity Management Committee, He also expressed his appreciation to the teachers of the special children’s school stating teachers work hard accessing the talents of the special children, is truly special and laudable.
‘Although it is the responsibility of the government to provide the necessary facilities to special children, it is the duty of everyone in the society to contribute towards this work’, stated Sarvanand Bhagat while assuring full cooperation of the government. Social worker Somdutt Deshmukh promised to give utmost cooperation and attention to the school to get proper facilities year-round.
Also present were Forest department officials Sufal Velip, Vinod Desai, Keshav Pagi, Pravesh Bhandari, Dheeraj Gaonkar, Tejashree Mokhardkar, besides Shristhal Biodiversity Committee Chairman Vinay Tubki, members Shirish Pai, Damodar Chari, Chanda Desai, Tejas Naik Gaonkar and Satish Gosavi.
Earlier Shirish Pai welcomed and introduced guests, while later Mahendra Phaldesai proposed a vote of thanks. Teacher Aditi Phaldesai moderated the program as several trees were planted in the school premises at the hands of the guests, and all the special children were handed over saplings to take back home and plant.
