PANAJI: Urging Goa CM to take a strong stand on supporting app-based taxis, the Travel and Tourism Association of Goa on Tuesday condemned elements that are providing a hurdle to app-based taxis & inconveniencing tourists in the rain.
“It has been brought to the notice of the TTAG that some hotels in North Goa under political pressure are not cooperating with app-based taxis operating in the area.
This is causing severe inconvenience to tourists in the rain. There has been a rise in such cases in the last few weeks after the central elections,” said Jack Ajit Sukhija, President TTAG in a press note issued here.
He said app-based taxis are the need of the hour & such technology-based digital services are here to stay.
“The government is constantly urging Tourism stakeholders to utilise online services on various government platforms & websites so why are taxis not being urged to do the same?” he asked.
The TTAG strongly condemned such elements that are providing a hurdle to app-based taxis & inconveniencing tourists in the rain.
Sukhija said customers have the right to choose online or offline taxis & they should be provided with the best service.
The TTAG president further urged the Goa Government under the able leadership of CM Dr Pramod Sawant, to take a strong stand on these obstacles faced by app-based taxis & condemn such fringe elements that are interfering with app-based taxis & tourists.
“Urgent action needs to be taken by the Goa Government along with the Goa Police to help these app-based taxis & tourists so that Goa Tourism can move ahead in this digital age,” he said.
