PANAJI: 8,700 recommendations have been sent to the Department of Transport for suspending driving licences of those individuals who indulged in over speeding.
According to SP Kaushal, the Department of Transport has suspended nearly 3,000 licenses until August 2023 based on feedback from the Traffic Police.
“The Department of Transportation has received up to 8,700 recommendations to suspend the driving privileges of those who engaged in overspeeding, and 2,500 recommendations to suspend the driving privileges of those who were frequently observed using a cell phone while operating a vehicle,” he said
The Department of Transport has been advised by the Goa Traffic Police Cell to revoke the driver’s licenses of 15,000 people who have committed traffic infractions.
“This year, from January to September, 15,000 people will have their driving licenses revoked for a variety of traffic infractions. We have submitted a request to the Department of Transportation to do this. 1,100 of them involve driving while intoxicated.
