PANAJI: Goa has been conferred the Winner State Award for Overall Performance under the Pradhan Mantri Formalisation of Micro Food Processing Enterprises (PMFME) Scheme in the Small State category by the Ministry of Food Processing Industries (MoFPI), Government of India.
The award was presented at the PMFME Conclave organised by MoFPI at the India Habitat Centre in New Delhi during the two-day conclave held on August 24 and 25. Union Minister for Food Processing Industries Shri Chirag Paswan presented the award to the Goa PMFME team in recognition of the State’s overall performance in implementing the scheme.
The Ministry evaluated the performance of States and Union Territories based on approved performance evaluation criteria.
Goa has made significant progress under the PMFME Scheme. Between 2021 and 2026-27, a total of 160 applications have been sanctioned in the State, including 158 individual and two group applications, against an overall target of 134 applications.
A subsidy of ₹5.76 crore has been released to 147 beneficiaries. Under the Seed Capital component, ₹8.32 crore has also been disbursed to 1,974 SHG enterprises/applications covering 2,198 members during 2022-26.
The Conclave also recognised individual contributions from Goa. Geeta Joshi, District Nodal Officer, North Goa, was recognised as the Best District Nodal Officer, while Yeshwant Tuyenkar, District Resource Person, North Goa, was recognised as the Best District Resource Person for their contribution to the implementation of the PMFME Scheme.
The State’s achievement is the result of coordinated efforts by the Government of Goa, Directorate of Industries, Trade & Commerce as the State Nodal Agency, District Nodal Officers, State Project Management Unit (SPMU), District Resource Persons (DRPs), GSRLM, GSUDA and other stakeholders involved in implementing the scheme.
Goa also participated in the PMFME Bazaar, where Vivek Patki, a PMFME beneficiary from Goa, showcased his products for exhibition and sale. Another beneficiary, Shradha Sawant, was selected to feature in the PMFME Coffee Table Book launched during the conclave, giving national-level recognition to her entrepreneurial journey and achievements.
The Winner State Award marks a significant recognition of Goa’s performance in implementing the PMFME Scheme and its efforts to formalise, strengthen and promote micro food processing enterprises in the State.
The achievement also reflects Goa’s efforts towards supporting micro food entrepreneurs, self-help groups and other stakeholders associated with the food processing sector.
