Panaji: Goan startups took a significant step towards accessing government procurement opportunities by participating in a dedicated onboarding session for the Government e Marketplace, popularly known as GeM. The initiative was designed to help emerging businesses understand the platform and explore new avenues for growth through government contracts.
Held on June 22, 2026, the online session introduced participants to the functioning of the GeM portal and its growing role in public procurement across India. The programme formed part of a wider national effort to increase the participation of recognised startups in supplying products and services to government organisations.
The session provided a detailed overview of the registration process, eligibility requirements, product and service listings, and the procedures involved in participating in government tenders. Startups were also informed about the various opportunities available to work with ministries, departments, public sector undertakings and other government bodies.
The initiative reflects Goa’s broader vision of creating stronger market access for local startups and helping them expand beyond conventional business channels. By linking entrepreneurs with national digital platforms, efforts continue to strengthen the state’s innovation ecosystem and encourage the growth of technology driven enterprises.
Participants viewed the session as an important step in understanding how government procurement operates and how startups can position themselves to benefit from it. The platform was recognised as a transparent and efficient system that can help businesses improve credibility, reach institutional buyers and unlock new revenue opportunities.
To ensure continued support, additional sessions are planned to guide startups through catalogue creation, onboarding procedures and other requirements necessary to establish a strong presence on the GeM platform.
