Hero of Goa’s fight against COVID19, Dr Edwin Pinto himself has tested positive for the dreaded virus and the “speedy recovery” messages seem to be pouring from all over.
Dr Edwin tested positive this morning and has been admitted in COVID Care Centre, in Margao residency. His close relatives are also being tested, said Dr Sunanda Amonkar, incharge of COVID hospital.
Meanwhile, Governor of Goa, Satya Pal Malik, Chief Minister Dr Pramod Sawant and Health Minister Vishwajit Rane wished Dr Edwin Gomes, Prof and HoD of Medicine, GMC a speedy recovery from COVID-19 disease.
In his letter to Dr. Gomes, the Governor has said that Dr Edwin was at the forefront, leading Goa’s battle against the Corona Virus.
“He has worked relentlessly and tirelessly for three months for CORONA patients in the State, of unattached duty knowing very well that there is inherent risk of dealing with the contagion. I appreciate his dedication in fight against the virus.
“I wish you speedy recovery and all of us are hoping that you get better and come out of it very soon,” the Governor has said.
Chief Minister Sawant took to social media to write “Our #COVID warrior Dr Edwin Gomes has been at the forefront of this fight against the pandemic for last several months. Dr. Gomes has helped hundreds of patients win the battle against coronavirus and I am confident he will emerge victorious in his battle too. I wish him a speedy recovery.”
Health Minister Vishwajit Rane said “Let us all pray for the speedy recovery of Dr Edwin Gomes, who vigorously fought the battle at the forefront for 3 months to save lives of many during this pandemic. We stand united in our fight against #COVID19.”
