PANAJI: Goencho Avaaz cautioned taxi drivers in Goa not to get fooled by the fake promises and blatant lies of the Aam Aadmi party
Commenting on the issue, Captain Viriato Fernandes, State Convenor of Goencho Avaaz, said: ‘’Perhaps Mr. Kejriwal has forgotten that his government enforced a law in Delhi in 2015 making taxi meters compulsory as part of the ‘City Taxi Scheme’. And today Kejriwal brazenly and audaciously promises to reject taxi meters in Goa? I urge our Goa taxi drivers not to fall for Kejriwal’s jumlas and instead judge his actions, which contradict his hollow words.”
He added, “In fact, Kejriwal has a long history of saying one thing and doing another. Most of us are aware that AAP was formed on the basis of the India against Corruption (IAC) movement. Forgetting his anti-corruption stance, Kejriwal recently welcomed Dayanand Narvekar into the party, who is renowned for the plethora of alleged scams that are attached to his name. This is a prime example of Kejriwal’s desperation to make in-roads in Goa, after failing to open an account in prior elections. From the stance he has taken in Delhi, taxi operators in Goa should be made to understand the fact that their cause will suffer tremendously if they blindly pay heed to Kejriwal’s words.’’
Swapnesh Sherlekar, president of Goencho Avaaz said: ‘’ The Delhi government’s inability to curb pollution has resulted in many children having to be hospitalised and the general population too suffering its ill effects. In fact, the Kejriwal government’s incompetence or unwillingness to put public interest before the vested interests of industry motivated the Supreme Court to ask why the government had not taken steps earlier to rein in industrial activity, construction debris, etc, which spew pollutants 365 days a year, unlike stubble burning, which was only seasonal. In fact Arvind Kejriwal’s frequent visits to Goa are probably motivated by his need to escape Delhi pollution that he and his government have failed to address.
It appears that AAP has not understood Goa, given their catalogue of mistakes. Kejriwal’s tactic of using casteism to manipulate the electorate is yet another faux pas on the part of the AAP. I urge Goans to reject meaningless rhetoric spouted from regional parties from other states who don’t have a clue about Goa and don’t really care for Goans. I remain convinced that we Goans are capable of saving our own motherland and all of us should come together to put Goa first.’’
