PANJIM: Goencho Avaaz today said that the unceremonious transfer of the Governor of Goa, Shri Satya Pal Malik to Meghalaya reflects the sorry state of affairs not only in the state but the entire country.
“This ill thought of and short sighted action to transfer the governor who had in recent times endeared himself well as the People’s Governor shows the intolerance of the government towards constitutional heads who dared to point the flaws in the policies of the government.” said Captain Variato
He said, “By Transferring the Governor, who was trying to correct the various ill conceived projects and immature ideas, the government has only shot the messenger instead of seeing the message and the writing on the wall.”This sudden action of transferring the Governor smacks of an ulterior motive on the powers that be, to shut the outspoken Governor, who dared to call a spade a spade.”
Though we welcome the announcement of the new Governor hagat Singh Koshyari, but the question that crops up is the similarity in the working model of the next Governor and the Chief Minister of Goa.
“Both are known to spring surprises at midnight. The Chief Minister was sworn in at midnight and the next Governor Shri Koshyari who during the President’s rule in Maharashtra last year also sprung a surprise by installing Devendra Fadnavis at midnight.
Goencho Avaaz and the people of Goa are perturbed with the past working history of Koshyari because during the President’s rule in Maharashtra with Shri Koshyari in command, the Anti Corruption Bureau unceremoniously dropped the corruption charges against Ajit Pawar and the Governor then appointed him as the Deputy Chief Minister.
