PANAJI: Goa Governor P.S. Sreedharan Pillai said that the State Government is eager to review tourism and mining sectors once the COVID19 pandemic subsides.
“The State Government is eager to revive the economy, particularly the tourism and mining sectors, once the pandemic subsides and is taking necessary steps in this direction,” said Goa Governor
He further said that Goa is reputed for its magnificent natural beauty, rich flora and fauna and vibrant culture that has attracted innumerable tourists worldwide.
“The Government is committed to maintaining a safe and secure environment for its citizens and tourists. While aiming for the betterment of development in the State, it is important that we also protect our forests and environment,” he said
Pillai said that the State Government has worked energetically for the development of the State by providing infrastructure in roads, railways, airports, and bridges.
Speaking on COVID19, Pillai said that. Under the able leadership of young and dynamic Chief Minister Dr Pramod Sawant, State Government has managed well the Covid situation in Goa.
“Over the last one year, the Grid Separator at Dabolim Airport, the floating jetty at River Mandovi and the prestigious High Court Complex at Porvorim has been completed and commissioned,” he added.
The governor said that the construction of the new International Airport at Mopa is progressing rapidly. It is expected to be completed by December 2022.
“The historic Aguada Jail has been converted into a Heritage Museum and is scheduled to be inaugurated shortly by the Hon’ble Prime Minister of India,” Governor added.
