PONDA: Rashtriya OBC Mahasangh, Goa President Madu Naik said there is a feeling among OBCs that Government is neglecting their demands.
Goa President Madu Naik criticized the Government for ignoring and delaying fulfilling their various demands, including the demand to conduct an OBC census.
He said that the Government ignoring OBC demands can be seen in taking eight months to appoint OBC Commissioner in Goa.
“OBC Commissioner post was itself vacant for eight months right from Feb 2021 to Oct 2021,” he said.
He said Panchayat Election 2022 should be held with reservation for OBC, and the Government should do what is required for it.
“If an OBC census is needed for reservation, the election should be postponed,” he said.
He said since the past two years OBC Mahasangh uniting OBC communities in Goa which is the majority population, and a memorandum concerning OBCs, various demands are already submitted to Chief Minister, MLAs in Goa, OBC Commission and Governor. 19 OBC communities come under the OBC list.
He said despite Court direction, OBCs are not getting 41 per cent reservation for PG courses at GMC, including ST, and SC, as Government failed to provide the necessary steps required purpose. Similarly, he said OBCs should get a 27 per cent reservation in assembly Elections. He said around 19 demands are submitted to Government; however they are not fulfilled.
Reservation for OBCs possible based on 2013 OBC survey?
Meanwhile, when asked to Goa OBC Commission Chairman Adv. Manohar Adpoikar, about Whether OBC reservation is possible for Goa Panchayat election 2022.
He said Panchayat Director had collected available OBC data from the OBC office.
He said OBC Commission conducted a village wise OBC Population survey in 2013, based on which OBC job reservations were increased to 27 per cent.
He said even in 2017, Panchayat Elections were held in Goa on a 2013 OBC survey basis.
He said even Madhya Pradesh Government is holding an election based on its 2011 OBC survey.
He said the Panchayat election in Goa is possible based on the 2013 OBC population survey without its postponement.
“If the Government conducted fresh survey of the OBC Population in Goa, it would take at least one year time,” he said.
