PANAJI: WRD Minister Filipe Neri Rodrigues has said that state government has planned allocation of funds for restoration of water bodies (Tanks) in Minor Irrigation Sector.
“Government has planned allocation of funds for restoration of water bodies (Tanks) in Minor Irrigation Sector. The department has commenced enumerating of water bodies in the State to study the water quality, its health and plan their restoration accordingly as per priority,” said Rodrigues
He further said that the government takes up the maintenance of Water Bodies on the request of the farmers and on the recommendation of Panchayat or M.L.A’s. After ascertaining benefit cost ratio, estimates are prepared and submitted for approval of the Government and there after tendering process and implementation is initiated.
The Government through the Goa Irrigation Act 1973, maintains & regulates the Water Bodies in the State. In this endeavor, the Water Resources Department repairs & maintains all the water bodies in the State with more stress on such water bodies which are used by community of farmers
